Guitarist Jim Kennedy’s 1976 release ‘Just Bein Natural’ is a mostly instrumental record that blends blues folk and psychadelia in a mesmerizing fashion.

Kennedy plays 6 and 12 string guitar in the skillful yet unrefined American Primitive style popularized in the mid 20th century by John Fahey. He only sings on a few of the tracks but his voice is warm and pleasant. Hearing him just sitting down with his guitar in front of a mic and delivering these songs has an entrancing effect. The songs are at the same time inviting and ominous in a way which makes a night drive through the country feel especially cinematic.
