In the history of modern recorded music, the relationship between the producer and session players have been critical in creating the signature sound of a record label.  The Detroit based session players, the Funk Brothers helped shape the music of Motown Records.  LA Based session musicians, the Wrecking Crew, were pivotal in creating the famous “Wall of Sound” with producer Phil Spector.  In a long legacy of studio musicians who have come before him, Brothers McClurg guitarist and Old Bear Records session musician, Jeremy Thompson is another gifted session musician who’s skill, and creative intuitions are shaping the sound of a record label.
In the newest addition to the Bear Tracks blog, Rich Kirkpatrick uncovers some of the elements of Jeremy’s passion for music; his working relationship with producer Chris Hoisington; and personal commitments that are driving the sonic exploration being recorded at Old Bear Records.
